Providing Basics’ current project is providing meal gift cards from local businesses to those in need.  The gift cards are meant to serve as an alternative to a food pantry, which often distributes food that requires cooking.  Providing a gift card to someone in need allows them to purchase the meal of their choice.  We currently distribute gift cards on a monthly basis.  The gift cards are distributed by hand to guest at a local homeless shelter in the south suburbs of Chicago (the shelter provides dinner only).  Each guest receives one gift card each month. 


We plan to expand our outreach to Lower Wacker Drive in the near future.
